Chestnut Winged Cuckoo

Recently in Jurong Eco Garden, me and my mum spotted the Chestnut Winged cuckoo within minutes of reaching. It was hidden in tall palm trees as it is a shy creature. It was a beautiful bird with a black crest and chestnut wing, as its name indicates.

It has a long black tail and a rufous orangish throat. The chestnut Winged cuckoo is an uncommon migrant in Singapore and there are many more species of cuckoos found in Singapore, both migrant and resident. Bidadri is the favourite place where photographers and birders got to see the cuckoos.

Did you know a cuckoos does not build its own nest?

It lays its eggs in other bird’s nests and they are raised by the other birds.
